Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko announced that during her meeting with Russian President Dmitri Medvedev they discussed mostly economic issues.

 

“During the meeting we discussed 11 priorities of economic cooperation – we discussed each priority in detail and determined the steps that need to be taken. We analyzed the positive situation that resulted in a record 54% increase in trade between Ukraine and Russia,” said Tymoshenko during a press conference on Friday.

 

According to her, during the meeting they also discussed the delivery of natural gas from Russia to Ukraine. “Of course we discussed all the details necessary for all gas contracts to be supported by the President of Russia. All the meetings I had in Russia were 90% dedicated to solving the problem of supplying Ukraine with natural gas,” she underscored.

 

Tymoshenko noted that her meeting with Dmitri Medvedev had been planned for the start of her visit to Moscow, but could take place only after the Russian President returned from St. Petersburg, where he was participating in high-level Russian-German consultations.

 

“The meeting was confirmed basically after all meetings with the Prime Minister of Russia were completed” noted Tymoshenko.
