Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has stated that she remains an adherent of the democratic coalition.
“From the moment that Viktor Yushchenko was elected president, I believed and continue to believe that only a democratic coalition can provide a chance to reform the country,” said Tymoshenko during a press conference on Monday dedicated to the political situation in
She was surprised by “what the democratic team lacks” to work effectively.
“I want to say that starting in 2005 there is no person more interested in preserving the democratic coalition. Because in 2005 and today the government has held on by this coalition,” said Tymoshenko.
She also noted that “from the first days when the new president was announced and Yushchenko’s inauguration was held,” she fought and continues to fight for the unity of the democratic team.
“The democratic coalition was destroyed practically to nothing for the first time when the democratic government was dismissed and we got the ruins after the powerful orange coalition,” said Tymoshenko.
“When a corruption scandal sounded through the president’s environment, they dismissed the government,” she said.
“Then you saw how Yushchenko and Yanukovych signed memorandums and universals,” continued Tymoshenko.
She also noted that she can support her words with facts. Afterwards a video from the roundtable after which the universal of national unity was signed and Yanukovych was elected prime minister was showed on the screen behind Tymoshenko.
