Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is 17 on Forbes magazine’s list of the world’s most powerful women.

 

For the third year in a row, topping the list is German Chancellor Andrea Merkel. Sheila C. Bair, Chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation is second.

 

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice dropped from fourth to seventh place. Interestingly enough, in 2005 she was first on the list and former U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was only 28^th.

 

Yulia Tymoshenko was the only Ukrainian to make it into the list. The U.S. leads the country count, with 56 of the 100 most powerful women holding American citizenship.
