The cost of housing will decrease by at least 45% stated Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko during a press conference today.
According to her, the true value of building materials constitutes 50%, “the rest are colossal additional charges.” In particular, the transfer of apartments to the city – 7-20%, the transfer of housing for official use – 2%, transfer to officials, share for the development of social and transportation infrastructure – 10%, payment for the city budget’s specialzied fund – 5%, deduction for the development and strengthening of the fire service – 2%, payment for connection to the electricity grid – 10%.
“In total, 49.5% are extortions that have been introduced through absolutely illegal acts…We cancelled all these illegal extortions and left 4%” said the Premier.
Yulia Tymoshenko also underscored that people being connected to electricity grids “be obligated to pay for the real expenses.”
In addition, according to Tymoshenko, during its next session the government plans to significantly change the procedure for building construction. As she noted, currently builders are required to pass through two commissions and an endless number of officials who abuse their position.
“We will pass a resolution that will establish an absolutely different procedure for constructing buildings. This will allow us to put an end to the lion’s share of corruption in this area and simplify all procedures for builders and their clients,” stressed Yulia Tymoshenko.
