After September 1, the government will suggest to the Ukrainian parliament that it deal with scrap heaps and ban the burning of trash. The Cabinet will prepare a draft law before the start of the Verkhovna Rada session. Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko announced this during a briefing.
Yulia Tymoshenko raised the fact that this issue hasn’t been regulated in all 17 years of Ukrainian independence. “We gave them until September 1 to work on a draft law and all normative acts that will create a special algorithm for the government’s attitude toward all landfills and graves where animals are buried. What do I mean? The burning of trash will be banned,” said the Prime Minister.
Yulia Tymoshenko reminded that in many countries the burning of trash is already forbidden because it does more damage to the environment than a landfill. “A system of benefits and financing will be created for enterprises that recycle household trash using waste-free technology, and that produce synthetic fuel, construction materials and secondary raw materials.
