The Ukrainian government has reached a compromise with Gazprom over the price policy for Russian gas to be supplied to Ukraine next year.
Premier Yulia Tymoshenko made this statement during Wednesday’s session of government, commenting on the results of talks.
“We found approaches to price setting for natural gas for next year. I can say that we found a compromise on the concept for forming prices,” she said.
She also said that the final price for gas will be set after Gazprom completes talks with Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
“I can say that, as was agreed during my visit to Moscow, the prices of gas for Ukraine will be raised to the market price gradually over several years. There will be no stress or shocks,” she noted.
“I think that this is the result of well coordinated work between our two governments – Ukraine’s and Russia’s – and between Naftohaz and Gazprom,” added Tymoshenko.
