Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is asking the President and Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada to speed up the passage of a package of laws aimed at improving the investment climate in Ukraine.
She stated this during a meeting with the Cabinet’s Council of Investors on Tuesday.
“I would like for us, together with Serhiy Tihipko (chairman of the council), to write an appeal to the President regarding these 26 bills, and for him to send a letter to the Verkhovna Rada asking for priority review of these 26 bills and their passage in the final reading,” she said.
“After the Council’s meeting we will also sign an appeal to Arseniy Yatseniuk that he put together an agenda during the first week parliament is back from vacation that includes these documents and bills that are necessary for investors, so that we have the chance to vote on them as a package,” informed Tymoshenko.
In addition, the Premier plans to send a similar appeal to the leaders of all parliamentary factions.
The 26 draft laws include: a draft law on joint-stock companies, protection from unfair competition, transparency and regulation of the banking system.
“Today we have 26 important draft laws which were developed together, which were submitted to parliament, and which have passed the first reading, gained approval in committee or are just registered. But if these 26 draft laws are passed and signed by the President, this gives us a chance to significantly improve the investment climate in Ukraine,” added the Premier.
