Premier Yulia Tymoshenko has stated that her government will do everything for the sake of cooperation with Russia.
This was her response to a question about the Russian Duma’s appeal to the country’s leadership calling for them to break the agreement on cooperation with Ukraine if Kyiv takes any steps towards NATO.
“This was an inadequate reaction by the Russian Duma to our awarding Filip Kirkorov as National Artist of Ukraine,” she said.
“We are taking friendly steps and hope that normal mutual cooperation will be built. It seems that every radical step simply worsens that state of affairs between our countries, and the government will do everything so that the cooperation between our countries is admirable,” noted Tymoshenko.
She added that we need to “be proud of our unifying achievements” and reminded that recently the Russian football team Zenith won the UEFA championship and that the team’s campaign is Ukrainian Anatoliy Tymoshchuk.
“We need to look for positives not negatives in our cooperation,” added Tymoshenko.
