Premier Yulia Tymoshenko does not rule out that she will call for the dismissal of governors of those oblasts with the highest inflation.
Tymoshenko stated this in the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday.
“During the government meeting tomorrow we will review the activities of five governors from the oblasts with the worst inflation,” said Tymoshenko.
She announced that a draft law has been prepared according to which the governors and leaders of the administration are responsible for price policy in the regions.
“Today the governors are basically implementing orders to increase inflations and make prices grow in order to deal with the government – we won’t allow this,” stressed Tymoshenko.
“Tomorrow we will listen to the governors. And if there are grounds, as is foreseen in the Constitution, I will appeal to the President that those governors be dismissed who can’t carry out their authority and aren’t doing everything they can to slow down inflationary processes in their oblasts,” said Tymoshenko.
At the same time, she stressed that she “will not transfer responsibility for anything that takes place in the country, that’s related to the government, including inflation, to anyone else.”
“But at the same time I want to see the governors, parliament, government, President and National Bank implement anti-inflationary measures, and not sabotage them,” stressed Tymoshenko.
