
Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko considers that negotiations between governments of Ukraine and the Russian Federation which took place today within the framework of the 3rd session of the Committee on economic cooperation of the Ukrainian-Russian Inter-State Commission were successful and constructive. She disclosed this on completion of the meeting with Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Viktor Zubkov.
Yulia Tymoshenko expressed hope that very soon Governments of two countries would introduce into life all agreements achieved during the negotiations.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine told that in the course of the session of the Committee on economic cooperation of the Ukrainian-Russian Inter-State Commission two key documents had been signed. In particular, the Protocol on producer’s cooperative which, according to her, clears the way for the resumption of production relations of two states.
Yulia Tymoshenko also noted that the Protocol on strategic cooperation according to 10 priority directions had been signed between governments of Ukraine and the Russian Federation. According to her, such strategic directions provide for trade-economic cooperation between Ukraine and the Russian Federation taking into account norms and rules of the World Trade Organization.
At that the Prime Minister noted that Ukraine is ready to offer highest possible support and help to Russia on the path to accession to the World Trade Organization.
Yulia Tymoshenko also reported that the establishment of strategic gas cooperation, including the signing of long-term strategic agreements on transit and supplies of the Russian gas to Ukraine, had been determined as priority direction of cooperation between Ukraine and Russia.
At the same time, according to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Governments of two countries agreed to stir up cooperation in nuclear energy, in particular, concerning the construction of new nuclear power plants and common nuclear fuel production.
Moreover, the sides agreed to implement common projects in the sphere of aircraft building envisaging integration of the Ukrainian and Russian aircraft building plants.
As Yulia Tymoshenko said, Governments of Ukraine and the Russian Federation had also achieved agreements on cooperation in the Azov-Black Sea Basin, in particular, within the next few days work at common project on the construction of transport passage in the Kerch Strait to be launched.
Besides, Governments of Ukraine and the Russian Federation agreed to elaborate a program on cooperation in the sphere of nanotechnologies. The relevant document is to be drafted till 1 August 2008.
