Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko has commissioned the Cabinet members to prevent signing of contracts with “UkrGazEnergo” in I quarter of 2008 and not to get customs clearance for gas supplied from “UkrGazEnergo” to Ukraine. She disclosed this, opening the Government sitting today. According to the Prime Minister, “there will be another contractual model”. And this, according to her, “will be the first step for clarification”.
Besides, Yulia Tymoshenko told that the Government is drafting strategic agreements between NJSC “Naftohaz” and Gazprom for a long-term prospect – till 25-30 years avoiding formation of any additional mediators. “Ukraine and Russia have stood enough of artificial mediators,” Yulia Tymoshenko stated. To her mind, Ukraine should have stable contracts and avoid signing of such contracts which “hook” our country.
Yulia Tymoshenko noted again that she is very pleased with gas negotiations with the Prime Minister and President of the Russian Federation and the Gazprom representatives. “We’ll clearly adhere to the principles of harmony between Ukraine and Russia in gas issues but we’ll see there no corrupt mediators any more,” she added.
