Yulia Tymoshenko: If Yanukovych wins the elections he would lead Ukraine in another direction

1005, 3 February 2006    // RIA Novosti
Print version Send email to editor Discuss
Photo by Alexander Prokopenko Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliya Tymoshenko said Thursday that the oppositional Party of Regions was quite likely to win the March parliamentary elections in the country.

Tymoshenko said at London's Royal Institute of International Affairs that the chances of another former Ukrainian premier Viktor Yanukovych, the leader of the party, were high because the "orange" authoritiy had given him an opportunity to raise his ratings by its mistakes and differences.

Tymoshenko said Yanukovych would give up the present policy and lead the country in another direction. She warned that only the consolidation of all "orange forces" in Ukraine could help retain the policy aimed at reforms and rapprochement with Europe.

She also said these would be the first honest elections in the country in the last 15 years.
