“There are two ways out. One is the creation of a strengthened coalition of three political forces: BYuT, the Lytvyn Bloc and OU-PSD. And most important is for this to be followed by honest and devoted work in this coalition - not for the sake of intrigues and the presidential elections, but for Ukraine,” she said. “If the President, contrary to logic and common sense, dissolves parliament, then there is a second way to end the chaos – for 51% of votes during the elections to be given for the bloc that I head. Then we will have not a splinter majority that resolves nothing, but a true, full-fledged majority in the Verkhovna Rada,” she said.

Yulia Tymoshenko, Ukraine’s prime minister, accused the country’s president, Viktor Yushchenko, of jeopardising both bilateral relations with Russia and western integration initiatives by labelling her a Kremlin conspirator during the collapse of their coalition last week. In an interview with the Financial Times Ms Tymoshenko hit back at allegations that she sided with Russia and was weak in her support for Georgia during last month’s conflict between the two countries. She accused Mr Yushchenko of tarnishing her image in an attempt to score points with voters ahead of next year’s presidential election.

Three years ago Yulia Tymoshenko burst onto the world scene as the improbably attractive and iconic hero of the Orange Revolution. She has since lost office spectacularly and seen her international profile drop almost from view before returning to power on a wave of popular support. As she approaches the hundred day mark of her new administration, just what does the rest of the world think about Ukraine’s remarkable PM? From US Vice President Dick Cheney to French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Tymoshenko has elevated herself as the key politician and future power player in the region.

I analyze stage-by-stage implementation of "Marshall plan" from Akhmetov and become convinced that it was written, probably, by domestic specialists (“marshalls” or generals from SCM-group), because it will never occur to any average manafort to put a first issue of such plan a task to steal "Dniproenergo" at a state”. Rinat, if you are so excited with domestic energy and all that with is linked with it, why not to privatize Chornobyl NPP for example? By the way, it is possible to build a summer residence for a Prime Minister. A residence of Victor Yanukovych “Ukryttya” ("Shelter"). Or “Sarkofag” ("Sarcophagus"). It sounds not bad? Besides, the land is wonderful there, there are no neighbours, crucians are in the size of a whale shark and strawberry in the size of a water-melon.

Yulia Tymoshenko: Democracy Is Beginning in Ukraine. Interview for DW-WORLD.DE

All the countries of the former Soviet Union are independent today. They have the right to formulate and to realize their own national interests. I believe it's the wrong tactic if Russia tries, with the help of various instruments, to restrict the freedom of these states. The European countries, especially those of the old Europe, don't want to see Ukraine in the EU soon. At the same time, two-thirds of our country is not prepared to see themselves as part of the authoritarian entities that currently surround Russia. That's why, in the short or mid-term, Ukraine will put things in order and introduce European standards at home, and only then discuss all the possible processes of integration.

New Ukrainian Constitution: from parity of power to priority of rights. Yulia Tymochenko's article in Zerkalo nedeli

Modern Ukrainian policymakers would rather write a Constitution or state’s sovereignty declaration than a personal income declaration. Nevertheless, this gift for Constitution-making is false. It’s just like in the proverb: to plant a tree, to build a house … to write a Constitution… If you poked a finger into anyone in Ukrainian political circles it would certainly be another Main Law’s author. But the Constitution is not a deputy’s inquiry and not a coloring-book for bored state builders. The Constitution, the Main Law, is a state’s fundamental document that has supreme legitimacy and is supported by the whole nation.

Some say we should not worry, that democracy and the market are now too well established in Ukraine to be replaced; that reform is irreversible; and that the country’s ruling oligarchic clans, like those of Eastern Europe, will in time become law-abiding capitalists. Alas, this view is based more on wishful thinking than on reality...
