To the editor-in-chief of “Dzerkalo Tyzhnya” newspaper
Volodymyr Mostovoy
To the team of “Dzerkalo Tyzhnya” newspaper
Please accept my sincere condolences with the death of Dzerkalo Tyzhnya publisher Yuriy Orlikov.
This news staggered everyone who reads, loves, respects your edition and knows its history. Everyone who remembers the time of hard censorship when Dzerkalo Tyzhnya appeared and despite the resistance of power, became the example of high-professional journalistic work.
I understand how each of you feels today, how difficult to admit the tragic news in the heart. Yuriy Orlikov has gone too early, having left a lot of unrealized plans and projects. But I am sure, that just Yuriy together with you, having created Dzerkalo Tyzhnya, gave Ukraine more freedom of speech, than it was possible to dream about at that time. Just from Dzerkalo Tyzhnya high-professional Ukrainian journalism began to develop in the independent Ukraine.
I believe that you will continue business started by Yuriy Orlikov. And this will be the best commemoration of his memory. Today I mourn about him together with you and bow my head in sorrow.
Lie in peace, Yuriy.
Yulia Tymoshenko
