Dear compatriots!

Passing of the Main Law on June, 28 in 1996 by Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine became a critical moment in Ukrainian history, the bright illustration of how stormy disputes and oppositions can be overcome by understanding, awareness of responsibility; desire to build together independent, legal, democratic state.

The Constitution of Ukraine laid the foundation for realization of centuries-old aspiration of the Ukrainian people to rule in their own state; it defined that only people are the transmitters of sovereignty and the only source of power.

During great events of Orange revolution our people proved that they basing on the Main Law can defend their rights and repulse tyranny and lawlessness of power. The phenomenon of multimillion, however, peaceful statement by people of their will then stunned the corrupted "helmsmen" and caused sincere support and respect of all European Community.

Unfortunately, today some politicians forgot the lessons of recent history and for the sake of saving of their imperious chairs try to manipulate with Constitution, Ukrainian laws, put pressure on the judicial system. But neither manipulation, nor pressure and cunnings of officials will scare anybody and will not hinder the development of democratic society in Ukraine. By fair elections Ukrainian people will evaluate each politician and define whose place is in the past and whose - in future, and who will have a right to work for the state.

Dear compatriots, greeting you with this prominent state holiday — Ukrainian Constitution Day, I would like sincerely to wish you confidence, strength, dignity and awareness of the protection of your rights, everything that is given to us by Constitution and by citizenship of the Ukrainian state.
